Torah Portion for the Week with Commentary
Divrei Rabbi Modechai Friedfertig The Torah is divided into weekly portions so that it can be read in its entirety in one year. You'll notice right away that there are more than 52 Torah portions. This is because of the way the Jewish year is calculated. In "leap" years an additional month is added (Adar 2). In regular years two portions are read in some weeks so that all the portions will be covered. Divrei Torah means "Words of the Torah". This refers to commentaries made on the parshah of the week (the weekly portion). Many rabbis make commentaries on the weekly Torah portions. Here you will find links for the JPS (1917) English translation of the weekly portion. You will also find commentaries on the parshiot from rabbis of the UTJ.
